Children need to learn to solve problems themselves many have trouble doing so. I am going to read and re-read this books to my classes until they figure it out. Emergencies require teacher involvement, but children being children situations do not. Learning to successfully deal with problems is a very important social skill that this book highlights.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.New go-to book!By RachelI teach third grade and read this book to my class this afternoon. I really enjoyed it! This will be a classroom staple for me. The read-aloud gave us a great starting point for talking about "kid-sized" problems and why tattling isn't productive. There are notes and ideas for guided discussion at the end of the book. I'm always on the lookout for good social emotional learning/SEL read-alouds, and this is definitely going in the collection.I gave it four stars rather than five because the ending of the book was a little weird, but ultimately it's a great book.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.pretty goodBy Mandy PlodekDoes a good job of explaining about tattling and has a good advice section for parents but it does include a scene where the teacher slips and falls--thus requiring the students to"tell" for the right reasons. That scene is a little unclear as to whether she'll be okay at first (she is fine ultimately). I just think they could have found a better example for telling for the right reasons.See all 94 customer reviews...
